The Romantic Side of Suspense podcast

On this episode of “The Romantic Side of Suspense,” I’m talking with Megan Short, an Australian author of inspirational romantic suspense novels. She grew up in New Zealand where her favorite activity was watching bumblebees and day dreaming. A screenwriter by trade, she has writing qualifications from UCLA and has won screenwriting awards. Megan currently lives in Melbourne and loves learning new skills and meeting new people, many of which make their way into her stories! She still spends too much time day dreaming and is a recovering chocoholic.

“I actually find the romance part hardest [to write] but the most satisfying,” Megan says. “On the other side, I love putting together the mystery, the whodunit. I’m kind of a diehard fan of mysteries from a young age, so that’s the most fun part for me.”

On this episode of “The Romantic Side of Suspense,” I’m talking with Cindy Kay Stewart, a retired high school social studies and special education teacher, who writes stories of hope, steeped in love, and anchored in faith. Passionate about revealing God’s handiwork in history, Cindy loves to research until she uncovers hidden gems to share with her readers. She resides in North Georgia with her college sweetheart and husband of forty-four years. Her daughter, son-in-law, and four adorable grandchildren live nearby.

“It is very difficult [to combine the four threads of faith, romance, history and suspense together in my stories],” Cindy says. “It takes a lot of time, a lot of research, … a lot of rewriting and a lot of editing.”

On this episode of “The Romantic Side of Suspense,” my guest is Traci Summeril, who writes under Teresa Summers. Traci is a Colorado girl who loves the outdoor mountain life but leaves the jumping off cliffs and skiing down the backslopes to her much more adventurous characters. When not writing her next romance, she is a music teacher and mom to four amazing kids, who are also more adventurous than she is. Secrets Beneath the Snow is her first published work.

When Traci needs a pick-me-up, she phones a friend. “I have met the most wonderful people through my writing journey, and some of them have become such dear friends to me,” she says. “Writing can be pretty isolating, and when I can call another writing friend … to talk me through [whatever I’m struggling with], I’m really grateful.”
