Jerusha Agen recently stopped by to share some about her writing life. Plus, she’s giving away one copy of her most recent romantic suspense, Hidden Danger. See below for details.
Why did you start writing romantic suspense novels?
My first published series was the Sisters Redeemed Series—a trilogy of contemporary romances. With each book in the series that I wrote, I found I naturally added more and more elements of suspense. By the end of the series, the third book could have been categorized in the suspense genre from its content. I realized that I enjoyed writing stories with suspense most of all and decided to keep doing it from then on!
When do you find time to write?
I’ve found that I really have to make time to write, since I’ll definitely never find any extra time to do so. I have a puppy right now who takes up a lot of time, so I have to be especially diligent in making sure I force in writing time whenever I can. I need to make an effort to fit in writing as a high priority, even if I only have small increments of time that day. But I’m most productive when I schedule chunks of time to write and stick to that schedule.
How do you come up with titles for your books?
I love coming up with titles! I like to build into my titles special significance, often in symbolism or thematic meaning drawn from the book itself. But for suspense, the top priority is making the title sound thrilling and suspenseful!
What’s your go-to when you need a pick-me-up to keep writing?
Candy cherry slices and chocolate! Lots of chocolate!
About Jerusha Agen
Jerusha Agen imagines danger around every corner, but knows God is there, too. So naturally, she writes romantic suspense infused with the hope of salvation in Jesus Christ.
The greatest threat to this K-9 team is the one they don’t see coming.
Cora Isaksson’s guilt has shadowed her life ever since drugs ensnared her brother and he disappeared. When Bradley suddenly returns, Cora and her narcotics detection K-9 are thrust into a battle against the drug cartel that wants him back.
DEA Special Agent Kent Thomson has his own personal reasons for bringing justice to the cartel. Cora and her drug-sniffing K-9 will only get in his way. Or are they assets that will enable him to right the wrongs of the past?
When the cartel targets Cora, she and Kent join forces with her teammates at the Phoenix K-9 Security and Detection Agency to end the cartel before it ends her. They’re prepared for danger, but when more lives than their own hang in the balance, can they trust God for the rescue that’s out of their reach?
