A Conversation With Terri Reed
Terri Reed’s inspirational romance and romantic suspense novels have appeared on Publisher’s Weekly top 25 and in Nielsen’s Bookscan top 100. Her novels have also been featured in USA Today, Christian Fiction Magazine and Romantic Times Magazine. She’s also finaled in RWA’s RITA contest, National Reader’s Choice Award contest and the ACFW’s The Carol Award contest.
What’s the hardest part of writing romantic suspense?
Terri: Keeping the action and tension high while building a believable romance between the two characters. Often they are running for their lives, dodging bullets and mayhem. This doesn’t lend itself to warm fuzzy feelings and getting to know one another well enough to open their hearts to each other.
What’s the weirdest way someone has died or been killed in your novels?
Terri: I once had a secondary character die of arsenic poisoned cupcakes.
Where do you get the inspiration for your plots?
Terri: Life! I scour news articles; watch reality police shows and talk to law enforcement personnel for ideas. Once I get the germ of a story, I then play the ‘what if’ game. What if this happened…and then this…. and so on until I have a fully developed plot that I can then turn into a novel.
Current book: Identity Unknown
A hunted man with no memory and a pretty deputy sheriff must trust each other if they hope to survive for a merry Christmas.
