A Conversation With Hallee Bridgeman

HAB_2014aA best-selling Christian author, Hallee Bridgeman is writes action-packed romantic suspense focusing on realistic characters who face real world problems. Hallee loves coffee, campy action movies, and regular date nights with her husband. Above all else, she loves God with all of her heart, soul, mind, and strength.

What’s the hardest part of writing romantic suspense?
Hallee: Making sure that I have all of the facts right in the way things are handled, whether from a military standpoint, police procedural standpoint, etc. I have learned that interviewing someone who does the job I’m writing about in the city in which my story takes place is the only true way to make sure my facts are realistic.

Why do you like writing romantic suspense?
Hallee: I love heroes. In romantic suspense, I can write strong men and women who get to be heroes.

Have you ever regretted killing off a character? Why?
Hallee: I have an eight-part WWII series that I started publishing before I finished it. I had eight protagonists, each one had his or her own book giving a different perspective of the same event. In the blurb, I promised that “one will pay the ultimate price.” So, I had to kill one of them off. Only, by the time I was writing the last book, I simply didn’t want to. But, by then, the first five had been published and I had no choice.
