DEBORAH PICCURELLI (5-26-16)Why do you like writing romantic suspense?
Deborah: I like writing romantic suspense because I like reading it. I always like to have romance as the main thread, but that element of mystery adds an extra thrill.

Where do you get the inspiration for your plots?
Deborah: I write cause-related fiction, so much of what I write is inspired by current horrendous and obscure issues. For instance, Hush, Little Baby takes on the subject of fetal harvesting (baby body parts trafficking). That’s what’s been in the news recently, although my book was initially published in December 2011, and the idea for it was birthed around 1999. But don’t be turned off by the subject; I did my best to be tactful and tasteful throughout.

How do you pick the location/setting of your romantic suspense novels?
Deborah: I usually use a small town like my own, or surrounding towns that I know. Or I make up a fictional town modeled after the same.

Current book: Love Comes Calling
Derek Spencer is the man of Charlie Parke’s dreams . . . and her worst nightmare.
